The Quota Killers
Issue #14
Hello fellow Quota Killers...
Welcome to issue #14! This week we throw it back to what would we do different if we were to restart as SDRs with the knowledge and experience we have now? This week we share some actionable tips and mentalities for anyone in the industry, no matter the tenure.
Enjoy 🥊
Pro-Mentalities 🚀
Learn by doing - There are always trainings, books, podcasts, etc.. to learn from. No matter how good the information is, none of these override the action of repetition & experience in order to build a skill set. You will learn more from 5 hours of prospecting vs 5 hours of researching how to prospect...
No need to reinvent the wheel - It's so tempting, especially considering how many of the best SDRs are the most creative SDRs. You are given platforms and systems that work. Using your creativity to refine and expedite the systems in place is far more efficient than creating new systems yourself.
If it ain't broke don't fix it - Ok, Ok, this kind of piggybacks off of #2. But need I say more?
Closed mouths don't get fed - This is applicable in every aspect of your role, whether it is your boss, your prospects, or your promotion. Be vocal & ask questions!
Simplify, simplify, simplify - Take whatever you say, write, or display and break it down to its simplest form. Instead of a 100-word email, how can you make it 40 words? This mentality will result in efficiency & transparency.
Net New, Net New, Net New - Which has a higher yield? A hour of prospecting or a hour of chasing no show demo.
On the Daily 💪🏼
Did you book the meeting? - If not; Did you ask? If you asked for a meeting as many times as you used your elevator pitch, you'd probably be an All Star.
Build that pipe - Ok, this is a given. But it is the most important action you can do as an SDR. Prospecting is the base of the pyramid, no matter how good at calling, emailing, or dm sliding you are, it won't get you anywhere without a consistent pipeline.
Mute slack - In 14 months as an SDR I can count on one hand how many times I needed to respond to a message on Slack immediately. Slack can be a black hole, don't fall into it.
Block your calendar - Set your own agenda, and figure out what works for you. Your time management skills are relative to your commission capabilities. Focus your time on activities that drive revenue.
Turn your phone off - Turn your phone off or put it in another room while you are working through a time block. Your WFH efficiency will go through the roof. Be realistic and set aside some time for tik tok, Instagram, or whatnot...after hours!
