The Quota Killers
Issue #9
Hello fellow Quota Killers...
Welcome to issue #9! This week we discuss creating your own success through aggressive action, doing the hard things, and the perception of your role with a "game" mindset.
Enjoy đ
"The Game" Mindset âđ§ â
Imagine simplifying your role into a single daily block of time. Within this time block, you have the ability to choose your own rules, ethics, missions and tasks. This equates to the definition of your "game". Compartmentalizing your role into this "game" gives you the ability to manipulate your mission, and make it aggressively actionable. .
A key principle of my game as a SDR is being opportunistic; Defining the rule book, not letting the rule book define me...

Doing Hard Things đ
Without planning it, this weekâs overarching theme is about doing hard things. Why would we do hard things? Doing hard things allows us to adapt to even harder realities. In the context of being in sales, there are ebbs and flows. Months where everything seems to work out and we are on a roll. Other months, where no matter what you do, nothing seems to go according to plan.
These situations will never go away but our ability to handle them can get better. Ultimately, making it easier to tackle the unknown. To build the skills of handling said difficulties, we can expose ourselves to adverse situations.
For me, it looks a little like this: wake up (early), take a deep breath & contemplate staying in bed, get up instead, make my bed, brush my teeth, and drink a glass of water. From there, I make it a point to take an hour to myself, before the day gets started to take care of me. This looks like either a morning walk, a workout, reading a book, etc.
Where this got hard was the initial contemplation of staying in bed or waking up before I actually had to be awake. That split-second decision is the difference between my life taking control of me or me taking control of my life. A hard one, nonetheless, but such an important piece to tackle the dayâs daily struggles. So whatever that is for you, find the hard thing. Even though it doesnât initially seem that great, it will always make you feel better.
The result? When true hardships come your way, you have the mental stamina to push through because you consistently make tough decisions. And who knows, maybe the months of minimal success wonât seem as bad and your rollercoaster of expectations will be put on cruise control.
Weekly Podcast đ§
In case we didnât talk about âhardshipsâ enough, check out this great podcast featuring actor Rob Riggle. He started his career off in the military then transitioned into his true passion of stand-up comedy. He goes into how the challenges he faced in the military gave him the confidence to be an actor in several well-known tv shows and movies. Check it out.
